We have forms!

We have “First Forms” in place. These forms (a glorified name for wooden boards) will be used to contain the concrete slab. It was nice to see the perimeter of the house and its placement. We are going to have one heck of a view!

The next step is the rough in of the plumbing. It will seem odd to have a house without a basement. All the plumbing has to go in the floor before the concrete slab is poured.

Progress!

House pad preparation

The heavy equipment was back out and the ground for our house has been leveled. This ground is HARD. That will work in our favor for:

  • a good foundation
  • being able to park our heavy RV on the lot

The RV and the Jeep are now at the lot, out of the way on the front edge of the level area.

The surveyors were back out and stakes have been placed to mark the corners of the house and garage.

This is my view out the RV window. There is a stake there in the foreground that marks the front corner of the garage.

Installation of the utilities have started!

The red pedestal holds the temporary electric service. It still needs to be inspected before it can be used. Our hope is that our 125 foot length of electric cords will get us 30 amp power over to the RV, especially as the weather gets warmer and warmer. A peek at the weather for this weekend shows a high of 96. Yes, it’s a dry heat, but even that has its limits. If the cords won’t reach, we’ll move the RV closer somehow.

The temporary water meter has also been installed. It still needs a few more fittings. Our RV tanks are big enough, water has not been an issue…yet.

We are on the schedule to have the “first forms” started this week or next (probably next). Those are the forms for the concrete foundation. After that comes the plumbing rough-in.

Enjoying the scenery and our free camping. Well, the lot did cost us some money, so maybe not totally free.

That is where we currently stand. We’ll do another post when there is more progress.
